Cherish every moment

Moments pass, and they can feel like grains of sand slipping through your fingers. You can try to hold on to them, but you’ll eventually end up standing on the beach and looking at the sand without being able to see every single grain of sand that you held in your hands… What I’m trying to say is that time passes and moments get forgotten or stay in the past behind us. It seems like we learn the importance of cherishing every moment only when something bad happens. Does it really take a tragedy for us to realize that our lives are made of moments?

Cherish every moment you have with your loved ones, cause they might not always be around. You’ll regret not spending more time with them once you’re unable to. The thing about happiness and sadness is that they both pass. A moment of joy goes by the same way a moment of sorrow does. But you need to cherish every single moment because it’s what makes your life. Your life is made of moments and, unless you cherish them, you’re wasting time.

It’s hard to think about the fact that we won’t be on this planet forever, and you shouldn’t think much about it. Still, it should make you realize that every moment you have on this earth is important, and you should make it count for something. You can make a conscious effort to cherish moments every day. Here are a few tips on how to do that:

  1. Don’t get bothered by the small stuff

Playing the victim, sweating the small stuff, and wallowing in self-pity is easy. Anyone can do that, but not everyone makes a choice to snap out of it and keep perspective. It seems like we’re only reminded of it in times of tragedy. When you get bothered by the small stuff, try some self-talk. Remember the “First world problems” meme? Well, use it whenever something bothers you that it isn’t worth it. Remind yourself that it’s just one of the first world problems and that it’s actually funny how you’re obsessing over something so trivial. Make a choice to be happy and smile. Don’t let the small stuff bother you cause it really isn’t worth it, and you’re only torturing yourself. Cherish every moment by not allowing small things to bother you.

  1. Take opportunities when you can

All of us like to plan because it makes us feel like we got things under control, but most of the time, it’s impossible. So, take any opportunity that comes your way. Life is too short not to try new things. Make a decision to try something new whenever the opportunity occurs. You need to get out of your comfort zone in order to truly cherish every single moment. Let that moment bring something new in your life, embrace the change, and let it lead you on a new adventure!

  1. Don’t leave your legacy – live your legacy

Your legacy isn’t an individual event. It’s actually a state of mind. Your legacy is something that you’re doing every single day rather than something you’ll think about in the future. What it really is, is a habit. It’s about daily improvements and consistency. Ask yourself what you want to be remembered for. Think about this time and what do you want to remember it for. Most importantly, ask yourself, are you really living your legacy? If not, it’s time that you start. Living your legacy is a way of cherishing every moment.

  1. Become the best possible version of yourself

Work on becoming the best possible version of yourself. Decide to laugh and smile more often. It will be much easier to be the best version of yourself once you’re happy. Find the humor in life. Let random things that happen make you laugh. Instead of stressing about something, laugh about it! Humor can help you become better and look at problems differently. Cherish every moment by filling it with laughter. It’s the best sound in the world, and it’s contagious! Once you start working on becoming happier, you’ll see that you’re becoming the best version of yourself simultaneously. We all make mistakes, so try to put yours behind you. Learn from the past, but don’t bring it with you into the future. You’ll become the best version of yourself once you don’t let yourself be sad because of the mistakes you made in the past. Instead of thinking about the past, try to stop, and appreciate all the beauty that’s all around you. Once you start searching for it, you’ll see it everywhere around you. Let carpe diem become your sentence to live by. Seize every moment of every day. Cherish it. You can reflect on your days through journaling. It will help you see your progress and really cherish the moments in life. I’ve started writing in a journal, and it already makes me feel like I cherish moments more. Now it’s your turn to feel that.
